June 2022: for three days, the Palazzo Grimaldi della Meridiana in Genoa was transformed into a lively lutherie workshop. On the occasion of the EILA Working Days — an international gathering of violin makers, musicians, collectors, and enthusiasts — the piano nobile salon hosted an exhibition of approximately 60 violins from the Genoese school, alongside a group of over 90 participants who had arrived from various parts of the world to share knowledge, technical comparisons, and a love of bowed string instruments.
The exhibition offered the rare opportunity to see historic and contemporary instruments from the Genoese tradition brought together, including recognised masterpieces and works by emerging violin makers. The Working Days were also a moment of professional dialogue, with technical assessments, presentations, discussions on restoration, comparative listening sessions, and networking among colleagues.
